Common Causes Of ADHD

without comments

The causes of ADHD have never really been identified, although in recent years researchers have come up with a laundry list of possibilities. It has also been determined that parenting has nothing to do with your child’s disorder, so don’t waste time blaming yourself needlessly. While parenting isn’t involved, genetics might be. It has been shown that where families have relatives with the condition, your child stands an increased chance of having it also. It has been discovered that environmental factors also can exacerbate your child’s condition to a certain degree.

Toxin, poison and certain chemical exposure during pregnancy can also increase the chances of ADHD developing in your child. This may also occur if your toddlers are exposed to these poisons. Lead has been linked to increased inattentiveness, disruptive behavior and violent hyperactivity in children.

Brain scans of children with ADHD has shown less activity in areas that control the most common of this condition’s symptoms. Smoking, drinking or taking drugs may have an adverse effect on the neurons, which produce transmitters that help control your child’s behavior.

Hyperactivity has often been thought to come from food, although that has never been proven. However, refined sugar should be restricted in children’s diets even if you only suspect a connection to your child’s behavior changes. While refined sugar is good in limited quantities, it’s still good to restrict it as it will have an effect on obesity and diabetes in your child.

Others things to be aware of is chemical additives in canned and prepackaged foods, and you might consider limiting them as well. It has long been suspected that preservatives and artificial colors affect the health of all who use them. For some people, it has been known to cause nasty allergy symptoms as well as asthma issues. However, there are some researchers who attribute these things to causing cancer as well as have a hand in the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD.

Let’s review what we’ve learned so far. It might be hereditary and can be worsened by a negative family environment, poverty or other factors. An expectant mother can contribute to the dangers by being exposed to poisons, smoking, drinking, or doing drugs before delivery. Issues like child brain injury, premature deliveries or low birth weight are just some of the contributing factors associated with these things. If too much sugar or preservatives are consumed or if there’s an inordinate amount of food coloring in food, it could prove to be a problem.

Low levels of dopamine can cause the symptoms of ADHD. This neurotransmitter controls reasoning, coordination, impulsiveness, alertness, and hyperactivity – all main symptoms of this condition. They may have problems sleeping, difficulty going to sleep, disturbing dreams and restless sleeping patterns.

Other contributing factors which aren’t actual causes of ADHD include extreme parenting techniques, obsessive video game playing, and watching too much television. Different medical conditions, Tourette’s syndrome, learning disabilities and like may be contributing factors to this condition and its intensity.

One good thing is that, regardless of the causes of ADHD, many children outgrow the condition by the time they reach adulthood.
